The NACA Inspired Schools Network (NISN) is building a movement of students, families, and educators to create excellent schools relevant to the communities they serve. NISN works with fellows who are committed to Indigenous communities to establish schools in New Mexico and throughout the country that will create strong leaders who are academically prepared, secure in their identities, healthy, and ultimately transforming their communities.

Apprentice opportunities at Network Schools and NISN!

Fellows establish a charter, grant, independent school, or transition public schools in the year following their fellowship, based on the NISN model using community-led design measures. Schools are located where high Indigenous populations are underserved or have high numbers of low-income populations. Our schools are designed with constant input from the community, tribes, families, students, and local leaders.

The NISN team works with Fellows to create a strategic plan for opening and operating a new charter school or to help manage their tribal grant school. Fellows research and engage their school communities through the school design process to create a common mission and vision for the school. Fellows also have the opportunity to establish key community partnerships and gain local support for their school.
